8HBY have attended Oldham College today to compete in a high-energy MEGA Day, where they took on the MEGAthon, a fast-paced Tech Tournament packed with a MEGA mix of interactive challenges! In teams, our students started the day with a crack the code challenge, before progressing onto programing a robot ball to race around a track. Kudos to Oliver's team, who went even further... They added an extra subroutine to their robot, so that it  shouted KERFUFFLE DETECTED every time it crashed!

Then, after a talk about careers in technology, our teams played a Geoguesser quiz linked to sharing personal data to guess the locations in a quiz. After our lunch break, we competed against other schools in PromptBattle, where we had to use search terms to find the closest replica to a shared image. 

All of our Year 8 students showed high level soft skills, including communication, team work, leadership and problem solving. They represented Hollinwood Academy beautifully today and we are so proud of how they worked together to tackle their challenges.
