HWA Blog - 18.7.25
What a fantastic year it has been. There have been so many positive and successful learning experiences across school and so many memories shared on my weekly blog. I would like to end the year with a final message from our classes, forms and teams across school, starting with our fabulous pastoral team…
Pastoral: Sunnah Ismail, Sarah Henson, Linda Gold, Karl Valentine
"At Hollinwood Academy, we prioritise the pastoral care of every student. Recognising their emotional and social well-being is paramount to their academic success. Our dedicated team have worked hard to support your child’s individual needs, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and motivated to do their best. We have witnessed remarkable growth, both academically and personally, and we are proud to share that our students have demonstrated resilience and enthusiasm for learning.
We are all looking forward to the summer break and we would like to wish you a restful and enjoyable time with your families."

They have overcome so many personal challenges and made so much growth, they are so ready to move on and tackle Y7. I said this at the leaver's assembly, that this time of year is bittersweet as selfishly I wish I could keep them a little while longer - but they are so ready for their next chapter. Children - you deserve EVERY opportunity, experience and achievement that comes your way. Never doubt your ability or forget how much we believe in you. Reach for the stars!"

"A journey of a thousand mile began with a single step 2 years ago when Jago, Christopher, Harrison, Oliver, Tyler, Adam, Harley and Kaiden became my students. My last blog entry for this academic year is dedicated to these guys really. They have made every step of that journey count, and I will miss them dearly. I am really honoured to have been able to witness the great transformation those young people have gone through.
Each one of them have become a better version of themselves and are the proof that impossible is nothing. I would like to thank them for working hard and being the absolute best! Jago, Christopher, Harrison, Oliver, Tyler, Adam, Harley and Kaiden…go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. You’ve got this! I wish you all the best in your new chapter that is Year 9. You will remain in my heart and thoughts forever."
Mrs Mayer’s form…
"This year we have welcomed new students Maddie and Kade into our form group, both of whom are impressing us every day with their creativity and endless energy - two welcome additions to our class. We have enjoyed wellbeing days at the Castlefield Sky Garden and Lowry Art Gallery, and we intend to make the most of our outdoor learning next year with our brand-new forest school learning area.
We say goodbye and good luck to our very own ray of sunshine William this week, as he embarks on an exciting new chapter at Heywood Academy. William has brought joy to all at Hollinwood Academy, and we will miss him every day. William - you will be amazing at Heywood, they are so lucky to get a student who always tries his best, always smiles, is always pleased to see others and spreads happiness wherever he goes.
We wish a safe and sunny summer break to all."

"This week in science the KS3 classes have been taking part in an engineering challenge putting their knowledge of forces to the test. They have been working in small groups to try and make a bridge out of straws, string, elastic bands and tape. The aim was to build a bridge that would span a 50cm gap and hold as much weight as possible. The winning group manage to make a bridge that supported an impressive 1.9kg."

Mrs Gold attendance.
As we approach the end of this academic term, I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support regarding your children's attendance. Your commitment to ensuring that your child comes to school regularly plays a significant role in their educational success and overall development.
We understand that attendance is a crucial factor in breaking down barriers to learning. When students are present, they can engage with their peers, access valuable resources, and participate in a range of activities that contribute to their personal and academic growth. It is good to see so many families prioritising this aspect of their children's education, as it truly makes a difference.
We are grateful to have such engaged parents and carers who work collaboratively with the school to promote a culture of regular attendance. Together, we are creating a supportive community that enhances the educational experience for all.
Once again, thank you for your support and commitment to your child's education. Your involvement is invaluable, and I look forward to continuing our partnership in nurturing all our students’ potential September.
One of my favourite events in the term is handing out Headteacher awards, today myself and Mrs Millard handed out over 35 certificates, for many different reasons. We are so proud of your achievements, please keep up the hard work when you return in September you are a role model to others.

Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and you are appreciated by all. The children and young people thoroughly enjoy this event year on year, it never disappoints. Thank you.
