• Friday 17 January 2025 HWA Blog - 17.1.25 This week I have had several important meetings starting with the central team on Tuesday, Oldham Secondary Head’s Thursday morning and today I was invited to attend The Trust meeting that involves all the secondary schools in Rochdale. Within all of these meetings, I left with a sense of achievement and drive on many different levels and I am excited about the next few months as we move forward at Hollinwood Academy and work closely with both Oldham and Rochdale LAs.

• Saturday 30 November 2024 HWA Blog - 29.11.24 Monday morning always starts with our whole school assembly. This week, Miss Pietraszewska, our primary science curriculum lead, took the assembly as we celebrated National Tree Week at Hollinwood Academy. She delivered an engaging assembly about the importance of trees in our lives. She shared amazing facts, including why some animals depend on trees, how to estimate a tree's age, and even how trees can make us feel more positive and calm—by hugging them!

• Friday 11 October 2024 HWA Blog - 11.10.24 I am proud to showcase another productive and successful week of learning and adventure at Hollinwood Academy. Our office door has not stopped this week with children and young people showing off their work to SLT. I was delighted with how proud they were of their achievements.
• Friday 4 October 2024 HWA Blog - 4.10.24 Student voice is very, very important to Hollinwood Academy and over the last few weeks, we have been discussing the role of the student council. The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organising and carrying out school activities, events and projects.
• Friday 27 September 2024 HWA Blog - 27.9.24 Lesson observations have continued this week and it has been amazing to see the children and young people engrossed in their learning. We have observed: English T4W primary, history primary, music secondary, English year 7, 9 and GCSE, Science primary, KS3 and GCSE, art year 8, maths primary and secondary, food technology KS3, PE year 7, outdoor education year 7 and primary reading. The key themes from the lesson observations this week are happy and engaged students, questions to help facilitate and extend learning, clear progression from lesson to lesson and the use of visuals and concrete materials to help support the understanding of new concepts. We have lots of lesson observations booked in for next week too and then it is teacher’s performance management meetings.
